Sky Train's overhead-suspended light rail system (OSLR) would fit admirably into the context of most urban transit projects. Overhead-suspension brings benefits that light rail technology cannot offer at grade or in subway.
Sky Train is the developer of the monorail project that we propose to build and operate as a Joint Venture. Many recent light rail installations have demanded low cost, low capacity systems, and so have used small vehicles and special non-standard components. This smallness makes it difficult for them to expand as transportation demand rises. The STC concept uses standard components from modern light rail or subway technology and operational experience and simply re-engineers them into an overhead-suspended system. By using standard subway or light rail components, Sky Train offers full transportation capacity from as low as single vehicles up to full subway capacity. Operating overhead and separated from the constraints of light rail in city streets, cars can be as large and as long as modern subway or railroad cars. |
