Congregating the Young Energy

World Youth Day is a day when Catholic youth between ages 16-35 gather to celebrate their faith.

It is not simply an assembly of the youths of the world, but a time for the world to trust in the world’s youth. It is an invitation for the world’s youth and productive individuals to come together as one people and prove their capacity.

It is a gift to the 21st Century youth to exchange ideas, values and beliefs with others and to be a part of an international experience. International events help each person in finding their way and discovering hope leading to a hopeful community in turn.

The first World Youth Day was created by Pope John Paul II after large attendance of young people at the 1984 Jubilee and the 1985 gathering for the International Year of Youth in Rome. Hence the World Youth Day has been held every year since.

Large scale international gatherings are celebrated once in every two or three years where as on other years smaller celebration is held in Rome.

Participants of the celebration travel to the host country and spend time performing community service, visiting dioceses, and participating in festival events. The Papal Mass is held on the closing Sunday of the event.

The official song of World Youth Day is “Light of the World.”

The light of the world

The salt of the earth,

We scatter the darkness

When love becomes our way

The light of the world

Christ is our light.

We shine with his brightness,

The reflection of his light

From day to day!

HKS Designers and Consultants International Co. Ltd wishes our patrons from Christian belief a happy world youth day. May our lives be blessed.
