Nurture The Nature: Happy Earth Day!

At HKS Designer and Consultant International Company Ltd there couldn’t be a more apt day to celebrate as the Earth Day. When we say our motto; ‘bringing man closer to nature’ we also strive at it practically. Hence 22nd April holds a special place in our hearts as the International Earth Day.

The concept of earth day was initiated by John McConnell in the UNESCO Conference at San Francisco in 1969. He suggested the Earth day to be celebrated on 21st march every year as it also happens to be the first day of spring in the northern hemisphere.

The 60’s and 70’s was the time when the flower child culture sprung to energy and students all over America started an Anti-war protest movement. U.S Senator Gaylord Nelson announced the idea for a “national teach-in on the environment” to the national media on April 22, 1970 after being inspired by the student movements. Massive population participated in this event to mark the ‘Earth Day’.  In 1990 the event took place on an international level and around 141 nations and several communities celebrated the Earth Week. Since then the earth day has been celebrated by over 192 countries on this particular day.Happy Earth DayTree plantations, organic farming, parades, poster and slogan competitions, children’s specials events like drawing competition, film screenings etc are the traditional part of Earth Day celebrations. Several artists from all the spheres take this as an opportunity to express their concern and love for nature through their art.

At HKS, we too have been trying our best and doing our bit towards the planet through designing eco designs such as Landscape Architecture, Public Gardens, Museums & Visitor Centers, Parks & Recreations, etc.

We have constantly tried to encourage people in adopting eco-friendly and sustainable materials and methods for their business ventures. We have also strived at educating people about the importance of wildlife conservation through our Zoos & Aquaria designs which also happens to be our forte`.

On this occasion we like to take the opportunity to wish every living being Happy Earth Day, and hope for a greener and cleaner planet for the future generation.
